In the spring of 2014, I packed my touring bike in a box and boarded a train for Seattle, Washington. There, after some early incidents, I began cycling through the San Juan Islands to cross the border into Canada. From there, I cycled ~7,000 miles down the Pacific Coast Highway, rt. 101, to the Southern Tip of Baja California, Mexico. A ferry brought me to Mazatlan on the Mexican mainland where I cycled north through the Grand Canyon of Mexico, Copper Canyon. I turned back south once through the mountains continuing through Mexico: Zacatecas, Durango, Mexico City, San Cristobal. I crossed another border into Guatemala after a near-kidnapping, the scariest and most intense moment of my entire life. I got sick in Guatemala causing me to fly home early to El Salvador. Panama was my goal.
